Description

Oxford Reading Tree approached 3T with a real sense of urgency. They had previously awarded the project to another company, but due to development difficulties they withdrew at the last minute. The challenge was passed to 3T with a very reduced timescale, to produce a customisable shell which could bring to life the very popular Oxford Reading Tree range of books.

MagicPage features six main sections and allows many different ways of a teacher exploring any of the encoded books with a class.  Well structured XML documents allow an infinite number of books and interactive support materials to be cross referenced and 12 types of popup activities can be laced throughout the stories - launched by clicking magical hotspots.

Creating such a large open ended book player was a daunting task, but careful use of Enterprise Architecture and design patterns allowed our medium sized team to quickly concentrate on the task at hand.  Paramount to client signoff was the extendibility and flexibility of MagicPage, as this is only the first version of this product.  New revisions are all ready underway – and use of OO concepts such as abstract factories allow new classes and sections without modifying the existing code.

An independent code assesor praised the structure of MagicPage
