I still have a passion for many retro games and computers

When I owned an Amiga, I used to dream of creating the cool plasma colour fields so many demo coders exploited.

So I sat down with AS2.0 and put one together. You can see it here - but beware its CPU intensive.
I had to use 8×8 pixels in order to keep the performance reasonable – hence the blocky look – but I achieved my dream.

Then I tried the same thing in CS3 – using some of the new drawing features.  This time the performance boost was enough to deal with 1×1 pixels; and you can see the huge difference this makes here
